Nano Technology introduces us with interesting super materials. Boron Nitride Nanotubes is such a revolutionary superior material.

Boron Nitride Nanotubes are similar to Carbon Nanotubes. But its wide band gap semiconducting properties makes it a better candidate for small circuit components.

Some potential usability areas of Boron Nitride Nanotubes (BNNT):

  • Biomedical
  • Lighweight ceramic composites
  • Electrical insulation
  • Fire retardant cabling
  • Piezoelectric systems
  • Polymer composites
  • Radiation shielding
  • Thin coatings
  • Batteries
  • New types of armors
  • Aerospace components
  • Dentistry
  • Cancer treatments
  • Nerve and bone tissue regeneration
  • Robotics
  • Sensors

I will continue to inform you about newly discovered super nano materials.

Technological Expectations in 2016

Technological Expectations in 2016

We prepared a collage of technological expectations in 2016 for you as a summary. Maybe you know most of them already. But, there are also some surprises too.

A summary of 2016 Technological Expectations:

  • All dogs will be microchipped in England
  • First manned space flight from India
  • The first space hotel
  • Agricultural robots on farms
  • Widespread usage of OLED displays
  • The Juno probe arrives at Jupiter
  • Dubai police uses Google Glass
  • Domestic drones for the police department
  • Medicine distribution to difficult areas by drones
  • Internet overtakes TV
  • Usage of new processor types
  • Drone lanes will be used to protect collisions
  • Quantum computing
  • More wearable technology in everday life

Technological advances are enormous. But, each day it becomes more difficult for us to be surprised.

3D printed new life forms

3D printed new life forms

This is not science fiction. We are in the synthetic genomics era. Sythetic organisms can be printed by 3D printers.

  • 2010: The first living organism which have a computure for a mother was created in Maryland. Its nickname is Synthia.
  • 2012: The genome of 80,000 years old Denisovan extracted from a bone.
  • 2015: “Three-parent babies” are legalised in the United Kingdom.
  • by 2020: “Many hospitals will have genomic medicine departments, designing medical therapies based on your personal genetic constitution.”
  • by 2025: “We will have sequenced the genomes of billions of individuals.”
  • by 2050: Handling the biodiversity existing on our earth. “DNA-based Systema Natura” will be completed.
  • by 2100: Biocode will become completely sythetic. Artificial living organisms will dominate natural bio-organisms.

Metal 3D Printing Systems

Metal 3D Printing Systems

3D printing systems are getting better results each day. Especially metal 3D printing systems have an extra importance, because they can produce “complex geometries which traditional CNC machining processes are not capable of.”

3D printing systems mainly make use of Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS). This method creates 20-40 micron layers by melted metal using a laser beam. The layers are created additively on top of each other.

Most of the Metal 3D Printing Systems require a high budget. However there is also a low-cost open-source 3D metal printing system on http://www.appropedia.org/Open-source_metal_3-D_printer described in details.

Now complicated metallic parts can be manufactured as a single unit without the need of a mold resulting a lower cost. Space technology improvements will have a greater accelaration by the use of 3D Metal Printing Systems.

Green Technology

ecoinventos.com is a very interesting web site. If ecological stability does matter for you, then you should visit them occasionaly.

Green Technology

They have practical green technology projects which use some waste materials converting them to useful thingies.

In the “upside-down tomateous plant growing project” they use plastic bottles as pots. The project is very pretty and simple. Even a child can do it. If you have a small garden or balcony, and want to raise your own tomatoes, you can do it too in minutes.

The site is not in English, but you can easily understand everthing by looking to the pictures.
