Now, a new polymer material could stop the bleeding of dangerous wounds. After polymer injection, it stimulates a faster, and durable blood clotting. The material, known as PolySTAT, was developed by engineers of the University of Washington, in the United States, and mimics a natural protein in the body that helps to strengthen the formation of blood clots.

The team says that after the injection, the wound healing polymer innocuously circulates in the blood, identifies sites of vascular injury, and promotes the formation of clots to stop bleeding”.

Tests are performed on rats yet. But, it is reported that a 100% success obtained.

The polymer might be a miraculous life-saver.

Transparent Solar Cells Can Produce Energy On Your Window

Transparent Solar Cells

A new device named as Luminescent Solar Concentrator (LSC) is used to produce electricity. Its main principle is to collect radiation over a large area and then concentrate and direct it to a relatively smaller area of solar cells in order to produce electric energy.

Some more recent workings tries to establish the same technique for the completely transparent glasses. The technique is called Transparent LSC (TLSC).

The new approach uses the same technique in transparent glass windows without affecting their visible transparency. This is obtained by using the invisible infrared part of the solar radiation.

Efficiency of the technique is yet as low as about 1%. However, scientists are hoping to increase it to a more feasible level as soon as possible.

The laboratory studies on the subject are maintained especially at Michigan State University (MSU).

Organic Agriculture With Lesser Carbon Emissions

Organic Agriculture

Science China Press

A team from the Chinese Academy of Sciences report that using organic compost could help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions which cause greenhouse effect.

As demonstrated by these Chinese scientists, by using cattle manure as fertilizer, crop production is better and greenhouse gas emissions are diminished.

The experiments are made on an eco-farm in eastern China. In the farm corn is raised in the summer, and wheat in the winter. The system is completely organic. No chemical fertilizers are used. Cattle manure was used as compost for crops, and crop residue was used to feed the cattle.

The results are striking!
